The Bolt Driver had brought a package to the lawmaker’s home, after which the mode of delivery caused Bickering between the two parties.
Ikwechegh was heard alleging that the driver disrespected him. He preferred that the driver come down from his car to deliver the package to him, a position the driver objected to.
In the VIDEO that has now gone viral, PLATFORMS AFRICA heard the driver ask the lawmaker; “do you slap me?” A question Ikwechegh answered in the affirmative “Yes, three times.”

Meanwhile, Nigerians have taken to Platforms Africa forum to react to the incident, with many condemning the assault on the driver.
Speaking on forum, Dr. Omotuyi Mebawondu said: “All these will pass without serious consequence. I expect a formal petition to the National Assembly, IGP, Human Rights groups, his Party, and the State Governor.
“I expect a sanction and possible suspension of the Senator from the Senate for this unbecoming behaviour while the matter is being investigated.
“If na Bobrisky or Mohbad issue now, there will be plenary and joint-seating of the house..there will be Press statements and briefing of the Nation.. But…..🤷🏾♂️”
A leadership coach and extractive industry ppolicy nalyst, Mrs. Jiliet Alohan added: “Delivery riders never bring the parcel to your bedroom. They get to your address and call you. They leave the meter on, in case it takes you another 20mints to come out. When you see the meter and your bill, you pay them and pick up your parcel.
“I’m surprised someone is saying the guy was rude. How was this guy rude? Don’t we all get deliveries every now and then, do they bring it into our bedrooms.
“If he feels too big to come out, he could have simply sent any of his domestic staff. All this shows off na only bcos he wan prove say he be big man.”
Top Nigerian columnist and a member of Platforms Africa forum, Mr. Alike Ejiofor, corroborated this view.
He wrote; “I acknowledge that the lawmaker demonstrated that he is a killer and his conduct was despicable, dishonourable, and condemnable. The fact that he told the guy that he could make the guy disappear was a confirmation of who he is – a killer. By slapping the driver, the man also broke Nigerian law.
“But the driver cleverly lured him into the mess and recorded him. Contrary to what you said, the driver did not ask him to come downstairs; if he was upstairs and the driver told him to come downstairs, that should not have been an act of disrespect.
“The driver saw him sitting outside and asked him to come to his car, instead of taking the package to go and meet him. That was disrespectful!
“Irrespective of his status, the lawmaker is the woman’s customer and deserves more respect. The driver should have brought the package down from his car and took it to the man to sign for it. Period! He didn’t do that, and they exchanged words that were not recorded.
“Check what the lawmaker said at the beginning of the video; he accused the driver of talking to him disrespectfully. They had exchanged words before the driver started recording.
The driver didn’t record what he told the man that got him enraged.
“It was when the man felt that the driver disrespected him, got angry and refused to pay him, that he brought out his phone to record the man. Listen to the beginning of the video. He didn’t start the recording from the beginning until the man felt disrespected, got angry, and refused to pay him.
“If I were him, I would have gone back to the woman who gave him the message immediately the man said that he won’t pay. Why should he stand there, insisting on being paid by the man? Did the man engage him to deliver the package? And when he started recording the man’s despicable behaviour, he was unsually calm, choosing his words slowly and carefully and asking the man questions repeatedly to capture the man’s voice very well.
“The driver tactfully made the man admit the offence he committed against him. He made the man to admit that he slapped him three times. 😂 He lured the lawmaker into a trap and he got him cheap.
“The lawmaker will pay dearly for the offence he committed against the driver in the coming days.”
A veteran journalist and a member of Platforms Africa forum, Mr. Mike Oduniyi, added; “Yes…the question would still remain, do you expect the unknown person like the driver, to bump into the Sentor’s compound and be confronted by Dogs/Lions or Tigers?
The point I am driving at is that
1) I won’t in the first instance enter the Senator’s compound without him, his kids/aides coming out to receive me.
2) If feeling distinguished or a big man, why not the Senator sent his aides to collect the materials
3) Why didn’t he, as he was already outside, request the rider to assist in carrying the materials inside.
It’s all about this ego thing – We versus Them.
Tomorrow, when he is out of power, he will be writing letters about misuse of power by his successors, and hand them to reporters to publish (because he knew we would have forgotten)”
Another prominent member of the forum, Yakubu Lawal, said; “I think the Lawmaker was simply not clever enough for allowing the bolt driver lured him into the actions and sayings. The driver demonstrated maturity, calmness, and logic in the trapping as our big man lawmaker was ranting. THE LAWMAKER WAS SHOUTING DO YOU KNOW WHO ARE I AM?”
